Busting Through The Diet Plateau

Are you one of the thousands of people that have been working out for a fair amount of time, and have seen great results right off the bat, but somewhere along the line, you seemingly hit a brick wall? Well my friend, welcome to the plateau. But don’t worry it happens to everyone at some point and time. We human beings are creatures of habit and we get into a workout routine that worked in the past, and stick with it too long.

In order to avoid plateaus you must mix up your regular workout routine and your diet. Yes I did say diet. Our bodies were designed to adapt to virtually anything that you throw at it. I am going to introduce a weight loss idea that many of you will have never heard of, and that is a cheat week. Yep, an entire week of cheating on your diet! This is not a week of pigging out or eating an all sugar diet, but rather a week to where you give no concern to the diet you are on, whatever it may be. This will change all of your hormone levels and allow your metabolism to reboot, so to speak.

As I stated above you must mix up your workout as well, simply because, your body has adapted to the workout you are doing, it has even figured how to do the exercises more efficiently without you even knowing. I recommend that you interweave some bodybuilding exercises in your workout routine. Just because I say bodybuilding doesn’t mean that you are going to be one, just take a few of the core exercises they use to help break you through the plateau. Exercises like squats, deadlifts, power cleans, bench press and pull ups are some of the basic exercises that most bodybuilders use, and that you can use as well.

Whatever diet your on or workout you are doing just be aware that your body needs an occasional reboot to keep on its toes.
